Member Updates

Please be advised that Saturday, February 20th and Sunday, February, 21st are FREE days sponsored by Target; we anticipate very large crowds during this weekend.

Please be advised that school groups are in the exhibition between 9 and noon, Tuesday through Thursday.

Seasonal Discounts on Member Tickets

This fall and winter FAMSF members enjoy special seasonal discounts on adult tickets. From January 5–February 28 regular adult member tickets to King Tut are $20 each. On Friday nights only January 15–February 26 regular adult member tickets to King Tut are $15 each.

How to Purchase Your Member Tickets Online

In order to receive your member discount, you must first log in to the ticketing website (see below).
If you are a current member, do not create a new account! You already have an account. If you create a new account, it will not be linked to your membership record and you will not receive your member discount!
To log in, enter your membership number as your username and the last name of the primary member as the password (if there are two members on the account and your first attempt to log in fails, try the last name of the other member on the account). Both the username and the password are case sensitive so be sure to capitalize any letters in your membership number or last name, as it appears on your membership card.
After you have logged in, click Buy King Tut Tickets at the top of the account details screen.
Choose your preferred date and time.
Select the number and type of tickets you would like to buy. Please note: Your discount will be applied to the tickets in your basket, up to the limit allowed by your membership level. For example, an Individual member may purchase two member tickets; see below for a full list of ticket allowances.

Please note that you will be prompted to change your password when you login to your online membership account. Passwords must be a minimum of 7 characters in length and include a minimum of 2 capitalized letters and a minimum of 2 numbers. *For example: FamsF10

Tickets may also be purchased by phone at 800.777.9996 or on site at either the de Young or the Legion of Honor.

Members pay no additional fees for tickets ordered online or on site; there is a $3 fee for phone orders.

Admission to Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs requires a timed-entry ticket which specifies a 30-minute window for entering the exhibition. When you order tickets, you will be asked what date and time you would like to visit. If you have a VIP ticket, you do not need a timed ticket to enter.

Please select your date and time carefully as NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES will be made. Tickets cannot be reserved less than 24 hours in advance.

Discounted Tickets for Members

Since admission is always free for FAMSF members, you may be wondering why members need to purchase tickets for Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs. We are asking members to purchase tickets to help offset the high cost to insure and transport these priceless objects to the US, between venues and present them in an exhibition. Member tickets are available at a $5–10 discount over those available to the general public. There is no discount available for member children.

Member Benefits for Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs include:

Discounted pricing for Adult member tickets
Advance sale date months before the general public tickets go on sale
Member tickets held in a pool separate from non-member tickets to help ensure that members have a greater chance of reserving preferred dates and times
Discounts on audio tours and in the Museum store
Members at the Sustaining level will receive two complimentary, undated, untimed, VIP tickets to the exhibition
Friends and Patrons will receive four complimentary, undated, untimed VIP tickets
Museum Associates will receive 6 complimentary, undated, untimed VIP tickets
Members pay no additional fees for tickets ordered online or on site

Member Ticket Policy

Tickets are sold for a specific date and time. Please select carefully as there will be NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES.
A timed-entry ticket, which specifies a 30-minute window for entering the exhibition, is required for admission.
All member tickets are will-call only and must be picked up at the de Young on the day of your visit. You will be required to show a photo ID and your membership card. The member named on the card must be present to pick up tickets; guests and children not named on the membership card will not be admitted without a member.
Tickets are non-transferable to non-members.
Your membership must be current at the time of your visit. Please note that you can renew your membership onsite at the time of arrival. If your membership is not current, you will be asked to renew your membership or pay the difference between the member discount price and the full-price ticket.
Member tickets cannot be purchased through the Membership Office by phone, email, or regular mail.
If you have recently joined or renewed, you may not be able to purchase your tickets online or by phone; please pick up your tickets on site at the de Young or the Legion of Honor membership desks.
If you have not yet joined or if your membership is up for renewal, you may join or renew at the same time you purchase your tickets.

Number of Tickets

Members may purchase at the member price as many tickets as their membership allows for any single day of the exhibition. If you try to purchase online more tickets than your membership level allows, any additional adult tickets you add to your cart will be charged at the regular exhibition prices. Please see the chart below for your membership level allotment.

Student, Senior, Teacher, Out of State, Individual: 2 tickets per day
Family/Dual, Contributing, Supporting, Sustaining: 4 tickets per day
Friends and above: 6 tickets per day

We invite you to visit the exhibition often and take advantage of your discounted ticket price. You will be asked for your photo ID and membership card to protect this privilege. The member named on the card must be present to pick up tickets; guests and children will not be admitted without a member.

VIP Tickets

Sustaining and above level members will receive an allotment of VIP tickets
VIP tickets do not require advance reservations and allow the bearer to proceed to the exhibition line without checking in at will call or the Membership desk.
VIP tickets will be mailed in June. Please watch your mail for these tickets as they will not be replaced if lost.
